All consecutive adult patients with histopathologically confirmed ESOS, treated between 2008 and 2021 and who had undergone pre-treatment computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging, were examined in this retrospective two-center study. The study reported on the clinical and histological features, the presentation of ESOS on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, the course of treatment, and the ultimate outcomes. Survival data was assessed employing Kaplan-Meier methods and Cox regression models. Statistical analysis across multiple variables revealed that hemorrhagic signal and heterogeneous T2-weighted signal intensity were indicative of a poor prognosis for overall survival (OS) in ESOS. The corresponding hazard ratios were 268 (p=0.00299) and 985 (p=0.00262), respectively. In essence, ESOS usually presents as a mineralized, heterogeneous, necrotic soft tissue tumor, possibly exhibiting rim-like enhancement and minimal peritumoral abnormalities.
